Results:Quetiapine was effective in improving the HAM-D-C and HAM-D-A scores at week 6 in 50% of patients and at week 12 in 53% of patients. At week 8, 50% of patients treated with quetiapine were still at the baseline scores compared with 50% of patients treated with placebo.
Conclusion:Quetiapine is a useful treatment option for patients with MDD who were previously unable to achieve satisfactory symptom control. It is important to note that this study did not demonstrate a difference in efficacy between the two formulations at the primary efficacy endpoint.
